In general terms the word geek is a slang term for odd or non-mainstream people, with different connotations ranging from “a computer expert or enthusiast” to “a person heavily interested in a hobby”, with a general pejorative meaning of “a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual”
Historically in the 19th century, in North-America, the term geek referred to a freak in circus side-shows. In some cases, its performance included biting the head off a live chicken. The only Geek reference in the 1976 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary was the Geek definition regarding geek shows.
A more modern understanding of the word Geek is as a person who is interested in technology, especially computing and new media. Geeks are adept with computers, and associated technologies. And of course the team at Geeks on Call is proud of our name and passion for computers and technology. All the team at Geeks on Call love helping people getting the most out of their computers and as our names suggests we come out to see clients at their office or home to provide a wide range of computer repair, computer support and computer maintenance services.
