What if my computer needs to have a Windows operating system reinstalled? What do I need to know and what steps can I take to prepare for this?

In some cases a complete erasure of the hard drive and reinstallation of the Windows operating system may be required (for example, after a serious virus infection). To prepare for a Geek visit, please gather all of the CDs or installation disks that came with your computer. You will also want to make a list of where important data files are stored so we can perform a data backup for you.
